Horizon Hues- Printing Silks

For Emily's Final Major Project at University, she developed a capsule collection of hand screen printed clothing inspired by her love for the far east.
Travelling through South East Asia had a strong influence of Emily's lifestyle and design ethic. She has always been very passionate about colour and in her FMP, colour is her focus. Portraying the emotion and vibrant atmosphere she enjoyed on her travels and expressing positive, energetic and adventurous vibes.

Emily chose to experiment with printing onto silks for her collection, achieving the boldest colours experimenting with printing processed and methods. She chose to Screen print her Silk using Acid Print Paste, this gives the colours their natural vibrancy without leaving any surface texture, Emily wanted the print to dye the fibres of the Silk rather than sit on top, this lets the fabric behave how it should when used in manufacture.

The Silk pinned out ready to be printed.
